A ten-year love affair with this beautiful blue stone has given me the opportunity to collect, study, and carve many of the wonderful pieces that have come from just one mine in Namibia. Not that much information is generally available on Blue Lace Agate, so it is my wish to record and share what I have learnt on my journey to date.
Here you can find more information ABOUT the stone and thoughts on its formation.
(May 2020. A detailed description of the mineralogy and geology of the mine can now be found at http://ctminsoc.org.za/articles.php or https://www.mineral-forum.com/message-board/viewtopic.php?p=71970#71970 ).
Among the photographs you will find a selection of specimens showing ASSOCIATIONS i.e. associated minerals that sometimes appear within vugs in the rock. In the CARVINGS section there is a selection of my favourite work –none are for sale as they form a precious part of my family. On the whole, my SPECIMEN collection only spans the latter part of this mine’s production, so no doubt there are many more beautiful or unusual pieces of Blue Lace Agate in existence. Please let me know if you are aware of anything special and I shall add it to the GALLERY, which is where you will also see my latest finds.
Sadly, since I created this website, mining at the Blue Lace Agate mine ceased in January 2017. However, I shall continue to search for and record any old, large or special pieces that may still be out there waiting for me.
I hope you enjoy viewing this collection.
